Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) once again for its call to wipe out Congress party and asked the voters to punish BJP by deflating its new balloon.

"When we start our election campaign from Maharashtra, then we always start from Wardha as it is the land from where our ideology stems from here and this ideology runs in my blood. This is a land of the courageous people which has produced the likes of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Shahuji, Jyotibha Phule, B R Ambedkar and even that of Mahatma Gandhi who used Maharashtra as a place of their work," said Rahul.

BJP says that they want to obliterate Congress from the face of India. I say to them that it is not just a party, Congress' belief is based on ideas which are of thousand years old. This belief is deeply instilled within the people's heart," he said.

The Gandhi scion also mocked at BJP for hyphenating their victory in 2004 and 2009 which turned out to be a cropper and urged the voters to punish them by deflating their new balloon and help Congress win yet again.

"Opposition is battle ready floating a new balloon like they did it in 2004. They made an India Shinning balloon during 2004 telling the farmers that India was shinning, ditto with the workers. People voted and India's poor people gave them an answer by bursting their balloon," said Rahul.

"They implemented the same during 2009; once again you had deflated that balloon. This time also they have a new balloon, not only that they have filled with air but with gas filled up to its brim and have prepared a new balloon based on Gujarat's development," he said.

"In the coming days the poor and the Congress will ensure that this balloon is burst and once again a government which cares for the poor and backward classes will be in power," he added.

At the launch of Congress manifesto, Rahul had said: "Just like the 'India Shining' balloon exploded; I can say certainly the balloon will explode." "India shining was an excellent campaign. They thought they will get 350 seats. But it evaporated when the results came. I am confident that like the balloon of India Shining, this time also the balloon will explode," he had said.
