Despite the Supreme Court verdict giving a clean chit to the government on Rafale deal on Friday, the Congress made it emphatically clear that it is going keep the issue sizzling until the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Not only did the Congress reiterated its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe, it hit back at the Modi government accusing it for not giving the CAG report, containing pricing of Rafale fighter jet deal struck by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The Congress looks all set play out the 'pricing question' to press its demand for a JPC probe on Rafale deal under Rule 267 with more vigour when the Parliament meets again on Monday.

The opposition parties like Left parties, Trinamool Congress, TDP and RJD etc. are also expected to join the issue with the Congress and demand for tabling the CAG report that has dealt with the pricing of 36 Rafale fighters that government has purchased.

BJP in rhetoric mode

The BJP gave clear indications that it is not going to cower down on Congress' fresh allegations and armed with the Supreme Court judgment would switch to a rhetoric mode demanding summary apology from Rahul Gandhi for playing with the national security and defaming the PM and the country.

The government has already made clear that after the Supreme Court's decision it is not going to yield to the demand for a JPC probe on Rafale deal. The treasury benches are expected to challenge Congress and other opposition parties for a discussion on Rafale for a short duration discussion under rules that do not permit voting.

The BJP will also play out Congress-led UPA government's inefficiency to seal the Rafale deal for six long years thereby rendering security of the country susceptible to attacks by enemy countries.

With battle lines on Rafale sharply drawn, the winter session looks heading for a complete washout.
