In yet another incident of its kind within 7 months, one more infant girl was found abandoned in a railway compartment by the cleaning staff at Kalupur Railway station on Sunday. The 3-month-old baby girl, nicknamed Purvi, was found abandoned in a reserved coach on the Puri – Ahmedabad express train when it stopped at the station, at 7:30am. Since it was the last stop, after all passengers alighted, the train was sent to Kankaria yard for cleaning. A sweeper cleaning the S-9 coach found Purvi on seat no 30. Not finding any adult near the baby, the sweeper immediately informed officials of Government Railway Police.

After learning about the abandoned girl, GRP officials rushed to the spot and took her custody. Though Purvi seemed in good condition, she was still sent for medical check up at the civil hospital. Cops are now trying to locate her parents based on the reservation records of Puri express. However, till late evening as no one has come forward to claim that baby. Cops, hence, doubt she is another victim of being abandoned intentionally.

In similar incident, railway police found a 6 month-old girl in S1 coach of Udhampur-Ahmedabad Janmabhoomi Express on March 28. When the sweepers were cleaning the coach during its halt at the Kalupur station, they found the little girl and informed railway police officials, who sent her to Mahipatram Rupram Ashram near Raipur Darwaza. Cops have not been able to find her parents yet.
