Punjab Women's Commission chief asks DGP to probe allegations against AAP of exploiting women

AAP MLA Devinder Sehrawat had alleged "exploitation of women" by a few party men in return for tickets for the upcoming state polls.

Punjab State Women Commission Chief Paramjit Kaur has written to the DGP asking for probe into allegations against AAP leaders in Punjab regarding exploitation of women.

Kaur said, "AAP MLA Col Sehrawat has alleged that senior leaders Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak are exploiting women in lieu of tickets.So we took cognizance of these allegations made by Col Sehrawat and wrote to Punjab DGP."

"We have taken suo motu cognisance of the reports appearing in print and electronic media about the 'exploitation  of  women' in return of tickets. And we have asked DGP Punjab Police to investigate the matter and submit the report to the Commission," Commission Chairperson Paramjit Kaur Landran said. "The allegations pertaining to  exploitation  of women in Punjab is very serious in nature which should be properly investigated," she said.

AAP MLA Devinder Sehrawat, in a letter to party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, had alleged "exploitation of women" by a few party men in return for tickets for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. However, AAP has rubbished the allegations of made by Sehrawat.

Shiromani Akali Dal had on Tuesday asked Kejriwal to come clean on the charges of "sexual exploitation of Punjabi women by AAP leaders" and demanded immediate dismissal of both Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak from all party posts in Punjab. 

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal had met senior party leaders on Tuesday, in the wake of allegations levelled against Sehrawat. However, no decision was taken on the fate of Bijwasan MLA Devinder Sehrawat in the meeting.
