Punjab government directs officers on timely issuance of certificates

Punjab government today directed all concerned departments to issue SC/BC/OBC certificates to the applicants within the fixed time frame under Right to Service Act.

The time limit to issue SC/BC/OBC Certificate given under act is 15 days.

Disclosing this here, a spokesperson of Welfare Department (Reservation Cell) said the government has issued instructions to all Heads of Departments, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Registrar Punjab and Haryana High Court, all Sessions Judges and Sub Divisional Magistrates that SC/BC/OBC certificates should be issued in the time limit set by Punjab Right to Service Commission.

He said that erring officials/officers would have to face the penal action of Right to Service Commission and would have to bear the fine imposed by the commission from their own pocket.

The spokesperson further said that Right to Service Commission has observed that there were 213 pending applications regarding SC/BC/OBC certificates till July 2014 and taken serious cognisance of this.
