The Education department has initiated inquiry against the school administration after some parents submitted a complaint letter to the joint education director on Tuesday.
After being criticised for dictating the colour of undergarments female students must wear, the administration of MAEER MIT's Vishwashanti Gurukul school withdrew the guidelines.

"Acting on complaints from parents and students, Pune's Deputy Director of Education has been directed to send a committee to the school and submit a report. The department will then take appropriate steps acting on the report," said state Education minister Vinod Tawde.
On Thursday, a team from the Education department visited the school and held a meeting with authorities, following which, the administration withdrew the school diary which contained the controversial guidelines. It had made it mandatory for girls to wear only white or beige undergarments, and bloomers after the students complained that boys were making inappropriate comments.
"The administration stated that they had received some complaints about boys passing unseemly comments, which lead to the guidelines," says one parent, "If that was the case, the administration should have acted on those complaints, instead of issuing a diktat for girls only."
"We have withdrawn the entire diary with all the guidelines after some parents and organisations raised objections," Suchitra Karad-Nagare, executive director and trustee of the MAEER MIT said. "Good intentions were behind the issuance of the guidelines but perhaps we did not use the right language, and therefore some parents took objection."
Some parents of male students have objected to the administration's clarification that boys were taunting girls. "The administration should not make such random statements which paint all boys as guilty. If there is a complaint, the administration should verify it and act specifically against those students instead of blaming all boys," said another parent.
The administration has decided to hold meetings with parents before issuing fresh guidelines. "We will be discussing the issue with the officials of education department as well as parents," Karad-Nagare said.
"The school withdrew the guidelines only because of media reports," says Gajendra Patel, a parent, adding, "However, there still other issues which the administration will to correct and we will continue to fight for them."
