A 15-year-old boy was detained by the Pune city police for allegedly killing an elderly woman and injuring her grand-daughter and neighbour at the Ekbote colony of Ghorpade Peth on Sunday.

According to a report in Indian Express, the deceased Dupada Hanumant Autade (70) was sitting under a tree, where the car rammed her down. Her two-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter, Arohi, alias Durva Lakhan Autade and a three-year-old girl from the neighbourhood Alisha Dastagir Shaikh, were also injured badly. The two girls were rushed to the hospital, where they are being treated now. An FIR has been lodged by Dupada’s daughter-in-law, Shanta at the Khadak police station.

The minor, as per information from the police, is a student of class IX in a local school. He has been detained on charges of negligent driving.

The minor's uncle Sahdev Lakshman Dhavare has been booked too, as he allowed the minor to drive the car in the absence of a license. Dhavare was accompanying the minor on the passenger seat next to him. He had reportedly asked him to take the car in reverse when they lost control of the vehicle. They have been booked under section 279, 304 (2), 337, 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
