A 39-year-old IT professional was beaten to death by three persons on Friday night after he objected to vehicles being parked outside the gate of his bungalow in Lulla Nagar in Pune. Kondhwa police have arrested three persons – Shriganesh Jaywantrao Raskar (31), Yogesh Dinu Kadwe (22) and Vikram Lakshman Bhombe (31) — for the crime.
NB Battiwalla lived in Sahani Park with his mother and had moved back to India a couple of years ago, after working abroad for a long time. He was attacked just outside his bungalow and he died on the spot. According to the police, Raskar runs a transport business, and Bhombe and Kadwe work for him as drivers.
"Raskar's drivers would often park their vehicles in front of Battiwalla's bungalow. In the past too, he had objected to this as it would obstruct entry and exit to the house," said senior inspector Milind Gaikwad, in charge of Kondhwa police station. "On Friday night, around 8 pm, these persons parked their vehicles again in front of the bungalow.
"Battliwalla came out of his house to object and the accused initially told him that they were officials of Pune's Regional Transport Office (RTO). When Battiwalla asked to see their identity card they got angry and attacked him."
They used a metal rod and a stone. He received grievous injuries to his head and was rushed to the hospital. He succumbed while undergoing treatment.
