Pune: Man arrested for sexually assaulting 14-year-old granddaughter

In a shocking incident, police arrested a 79-year-old man in Pune on Sunday for sexually assaulting his minor granddaughter, reported Hindustan Times.

The incident came to light when the victim informed a tuition teacher about the sexual assaults, who then contacted a child helpline.

The grandfather was arrested under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police also booked the victim's maternal aunt and uncle, with whom she was living, in the same case. The girl lost her parents a few years ago.

The victim had reportedly told her aunt and uncle about the assaults, but they did not pay any heed to it.

The grandfather, who is a native of Parner tehsil in the neighbouring Ahmednagar district, sexually assaulted her whenever he came to Pune, the victim said in her complaint.
