A five-year-old boy was found dead in an abandoned car in an industrial area of Chakan in Pune. According to police, while playing near the car, the boy managed to open the car door and got into the car but later he could not open it from inside and died due to suffocation.

The incident came to light at around 5.30 pm on Monday evening. The victim has been identified as one Karan Pande and his parents work at one of the private companies as labourers. Following the incident, Chakan police has registered a case of accidental death in this regard.
Inspector Mohan Yadav, in-charge of Chakan police station told DNA, "On Monday afternoon, Karan was playing with other children of his age in their colony. While the other children were playing in group, Karan walked away from the group and he went towards the abandoned car. He managed to open the door at the driver's seat and got into the car. After getting into the car, the door was locked but he could not open the door from inside the car."
Meanwhile, his parents started looking for him in the entire area not knowing that he was locked up inside the car. "The family and neighbours kept searching the boy for five and half hours but he could not be found. While searching in the area, one of the neighbours peeped into the car and found Karan inside the vehicle," Yadav said.
According to police, the car has been parked by unknown person for last few months and it is in open area. "Since the car was parked in an open area, the heat was generated inside the car due to hot climate. Due to that heat, the boy's skin also got burnt and due to lack of oxygen supply, he died inside the car only," Yadav said.
Now the police are trying to trace the owner of the car who left the car abandoned in the area.
