Maharashtra: 14 Pune college students drown off Murud Beach; Indian Coast Guard launch search operation

The search for the missing students is on with help from locals.

14 students of Pune's Inamdar College were reported to have drowned at the Murud beach in Raigad district on Monday. The deceased comprise 10 boys and three girls; one student is unidentified.

The Indian Coast Guard has launched a search operation.

SA Inamdar, Trustee of the College said, "We took all necessary steps after we got information." 

Around 130 students had gone to the beach for a picnic when the incident happened. The search for the missing students is on with help from locals.

The following are the names believed to be of the children drowned: Shifa Kazi, Sumayaa Ansari, Yusuf Ansari, Supriya Paal, Farhin Sayyed, Iftikhar Shekh, Sajid Chaudhari, Raj Tanjini, Swapnali Sangat, Samrin Shaikh, Shafia Ansari, Rafia Ansari and Sana Munir.
