Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency: Parliamentary election in Puducherry constituency, which is a union territory, will be held on April 18, in the second phase of Lok Sabha election. In phase two, the election will take place in 97 constituencies across 13 states and one union territory. The key contest in 2019 polls here is expected to take place among Congress' VE Vaithilingam, BSP's AG Pathimaraj, Dr MAS Subramanian, Dr Narayanasamy Kesavan of the All India NR Congress. 

All India NR Congress's R Radhakrishnan is the sitting MP in Puducherry who defeated then Congress' candidate Dr Narayanasamy Kesavan by a margin of 60854 votes.

It was after the 14 amendment of the Indian constitution in 1962, Puducherry was declared a union territory. The seat has not been reserved for any scheduled caste or Scheduled tribe candidate. 

The total population in the region according to the 2011 census, is 1247953 people while 86% is the average literacy rate in the region.

Puducherry Lok Sabha results in 2014, 2009 and 2004

2014: R Radhakrishnan of the All India NR Congress received 255,826 votes and defeated V Narayanasamy of the Congress who secured 194,972 votes. 

2009: V Narayanasamy of the Congress secured 300,391 votes and defeated M Ramdas of the PMK who received 208,619 votes. 

2004: M Ramdas of the PMK secured 241,653 votes. he defeated L Kumaramangalam of the BJP who secured 172,472 votes.

Lok Sabha election 2019 are taking place in 7 phases. The first-phase voting has already taken place which was held on April 11. The remaining phases will go to polls on April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. Counting of votes will be held on May 23.
