.A day after 26/11 Mumbai attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed filed a plea in United Nations to remove his terrorist tag, his son-in-law has asked India to stop crying and provide evidence against him.
The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder and banned Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) head, who carries a USD 10 million American bounty on his head for terror activities, walked free on Friday after the Pakistan government decided against detaining him further in any other case. He was under house arrest since January this year.
“India is always crying internationally. Why don’t you provide evidence instead of just using television clips of the Mumbai attacks?,’’ Khalid Waleed, the son-in-law of Hafiz Saeed told Hindustan Times.
He also said that the America has asked for Hafiz Saeed’s re-arrest only because of pressure from India and he would continue to fight for the liberation of Kashmir.
He also questions how Saeed can be rearrested when he has been released by a three-judge bench of the review board.
Meanwhile, influential Democratic lawmaker Tulsi Gabbard termed as 'ridiculous' the release of Hafiz Saeed from house arrest.
"Not only did Pakistan give refuge to Bin Laden, responsible for attacks against US on 9/11, Pakistan set free a terrorist who has a USD 10 million American bounty on his head," she said.
The US has sought immediate re-arrest of Saeed, warning Islamabad that there would be repercussions for bilateral ties if it fails to act.
"If Pakistan does not take action to lawfully detain Saeed and charge him for his crimes, its inaction will have repercussions for bilateral relations and for Pakistan's global reputation," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders Sanders said.
India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said that Saeed's release confirmed once again the lack of seriousness by the Pakistan government in bringing to justice perpetrators of terrorism, including individuals and entities designated by the UN.
"It also appears to be an attempt by the Pakistani system to mainstream proscribed terrorists. Pakistan has not changed its policy of shielding and supporting non-state actors and its true face is visible for all to see," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in New Delhi.
