Supporters of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik took to streets here on Thursday to protest against his arrest. Protesters pelted stones at security forces after Yasin Malik was arrested by state authorities for leading a campaign to boycott assembly elections in the state scheduled for next month.
Angry protesters burnt clothes and other materials during the protest in Srinagar city. Meanwhile, Hurriyat leaders have called the announcement of election as addition of insult to the injuries of the flood-affected people of the Kashmir valley. Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled to have five-phase polls commencing from November 25. The counting of votes will take place on December 23.
