A Vaishali district court ordered registration of an FIR against expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh on Friday for his derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati. Chief Judicial Magistrate Jai Ram Prasad ordered registration of the case in district SC & ST police station on a complaint by Balendra Das, former Vaishali district chief of Bahujan Samaj Party.

Das' counsel Ranjit Kumar alleged that he was hurt after hearing the derogatory remarks by Singh against Mayawati as shown in TV channels and published in newspapers. The complainant sought action against Singh under various IPC sections.

UP child rights body to examine video of BSP protest

On the other hand, taking note of BSP workers allegedly using "abusive" language against the minor daughter of expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh, Uttar Pradesh Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Friday directed the administration to provide it the video footage of the incident. "We have taken cognizance of the matter and a complaint has been filed with us regarding the alleged use of abusive language against Singh's minor daughter at a protest by BSP workers," Chairperson of the Commission Juhi Singh said.

"We have asked the district administration, which had got the entire dharna filmed, to provide us the footage. It will reach us by Tuesday. Only after examining the video, the Commission will be able to tell what has been said and recommend action," she said.

Earlier in the day, an FIR was filed against Mayawati and some of her party leaders by police on a complaint by the family of Singh whose whereabouts were not known after he kicked up a controversy by questioning the character of the BSP supremo. Singh's mother Tetra Devi filed the complaint alleging BSP leaders raised "derogatory" slogans at the party protest in Lucknow on Thursday in which his 12-year-old daughter was also dragged into the row.
