Former chief minister J Jayalalithaa's 'last' voice recording while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals was submitted to the Justice Arumugasamy Commission, which is probing the circumstances leading to her death.

The audio recording was submitted by Dr Shivakumar, who was Jayalalithaa's personal physician and a relative of her aide VK Sasikala, to the Commission in which the former CM was interacting with a doctor.

He also submitted before the Commission handwritten papers of the health chart she followed months ahead of her hospitalisation.

In the 52-second audio, late Jayalalithaa asks about her blood pressure. The doctor terms it 'high', with systolic and diastolic values at 140/80. Jayalalithaa responds: "It is okay for me; normal."

Even though experiencing difficulty in speaking, she makes a jocular remark saying that the peep sound of medical equipment was akin to that of the whistle of those sitting in the front row in cinema theatres, the audio released by the commission.

The daily menu (of food items to be given to her), was written by her on August 2, 2016, just 20 days ahead of her admission into Apollo Hospitals. The health chart suggests Jayalalithaa had subsisted on idlis, breads, coffee, green tea and biscuits.

According to Raja Senthoor Pandian, legal counsellor for VK Sasikala, the release of the audio proves 'beyond doubt' that Jayalalithaa was "conscious and aware of what is going on around her," corroborating with the submissions of the affidavit filed by Sasikala. He said that he asked the commission to question deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam who raised several doubts on Jayalalithaa's death.
