Security forces went into a tizzy on Saturday when some spectators raised pro-Zakir Musa and pro-Pakistan slogans during the Army-sponsored cricket match in the Central Kashmir's Budgam district.

The incident occurred when the match between Budgam and Ompora teams was over and organisers were readying for the prize distribution. A section of the audience created a scene when they raised pro-Zakir Musa and pro-Pakistan slogans in the stadium.

Officials rushed to the pavilion and tried to persuade the people to stop sloganeering. After a few minutes the order was restored and the award ceremony was held without any fuss.

Local MLA from Budgam constituency Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, who is also the chief spokesman of main opposition National Conference, was the chief guest on the occasion.

"Army had organised a tournament and today was its final. After the match was over, the supporters of the winning team started sloganeering. It continued for five to 10 minutes. Later the prize distribution was held peacefully. Even the prize money was accepted," said Aga.

Army, however, did not comment on the issue. Police too were not forthcoming about Saturday's developments.

This is for the second time in a week that audience raised anti-national slogans during an Army sponsored tourney. On Sunday some youth raised pro-Shahid Afridi and pro-azaadi slogans outside the stadium at Kunzar when they were not able to enter to watch the match and have a glimpse of former team India captain MS Dhoni, who was the chief guest.
