Taking an indirect jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday said there is a need for a big heart instead of 56-inch-chest to run the country.

"This is India. There is no need for a 56-inch-chest to run it. All it needs is a big heart," said Priyanka while addressing a public meeting. "It needs an honest strength instead of cruel force of power. It needs a firm resolve and internal strength rather than an outer display of ability. A resolve to protect traditions of the country," she added.

She asserted that the country belongs to the people and they are the true protectors, and added that it is the duty of the Gandhi family to protect the country. She also said that the people of Rae Bareli have acknowledged the work done by her mother, Sonia Gandhi, and that she is confident that the people will enable her win again by a huge margin.

"But these elections are not just limited to your constituency. You are not just electing your parliamentarian. A new government will be formed in the country. So apart from your families and region, you have to think about the country also," she added.
