Reacting to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s interaction with the media, veteran journalist N Ram said the latter came with a strange reasoning on the corruption issue, but agreed with Dr Singh that Narendra Modi would be disastrous fro India as Prime Minister

“He hasn’t interacted with media much in his tenure. It was his third in the last nine years. Most of these press conferences were on expected lines,” he said

“Politically, I think the worst thing about his speech was the point about the corruption. There is no doubt that he himself is financial clean. Nobody doubts our Prime Minister’s financial integrity. On 2G, he came up with a strange reasoning that corruption which happened during UPA I people routed them to power. He is suggesting that even if here is corruption, people are supporting you,” said Ram

“Secondly, the exposure of scams came during UPA II tenure. So this is an indefensible argument,” he added

Placing similar opinion about BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Ram said, “ I agree with Dr Singh that Narendra Modi will be disastrous for the country. He is a highly divisive figure.”

Asked to comment on the 2014 general elections, Ram said, “The Congress’s defeat in the upcoming general elections is guaranteed."
