In his first visit to Varanasi since the BJP came to power in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday gifted Rs 1,000 crore Navratri bonanza to his 'home'.

Inaugurating as many as 17 infrastructure projects at Bada Lalpur in Varanasi, PM Modi also launched a Rs 305 crore handicraft trade centre.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, UP Governor Ram Naik, Union Minister Smriti Irani were also present during the launch.

The highlight of the first day of the PM Modi's visit was the launch of Mahamana Express.

PM Modi launched the Varanasi to Vadodara train  via video conferencing.

Addressing the gathering after the inauguration, PM Modi said that “development is the solution for every problem.”

He also said that “we complete every project that we launch.”

This is PM Modi's 11th visit to his Lok Sabha constituency.

Before the September visit, PM Modi had held a roadshow in the city during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
