The Crime Branch of Odisha Police today arrested the prime accused in the cyber crime against students Rama Devi Womens University.

Prime accused Sujit Sahu in the cyber crime case arrested last night. Hope this serves as a strong deterrent and such acts are not repeated, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted.

Special DG (Crime) B K Sharma said Sahu was arrested from Mahanga area in Cuttack district last night.

The crime branch had formed a eight-member team to net Sahu, the owner of a marketing agency who allegedly posted pictures of the university's students on Facebook with objectionable slugs, he said.

The chief minister had yesterday ordered for a crime branch probe into the incident after a student's delegation met him at his chamber in the state assembly.

The students had on Saturday filed a complaint with the police against Sahu and his marketing agency.

Police said the accused had held a picture competition among students few days ago. He got the pictures of the girl and allegedly used them in an obscene manner.
