Ram Nath Kovind took oath as the 14th President of India today at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Former Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind is the 14th President of India.
Ram Nath Kovind, was born on October 1, 1945 at Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh.
He got married to his wife Savita Kovind on 30th May, 1974 and have a son Prashant Kumar.
► Education
Kovind's educational qualifications include a B.Com, L.L.B. degree from Kanpur University (Uttar Pradesh).
► Career
Ram Nath Kovind was enrolled as an Advocate in 1971 with the Bar Council of Delhi.
He was a Central Government Advocate in Delhi High Court from 1977 to 1979 and a Central Government Standing Counsel in the Supreme Court from 1980 to 1993.
He became Advocate-on-Record of the Supreme Court of India in 1978.
Had practiced in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court for about 16 years till 1993.
► As a politician
Ram Nath Kovind was elected and became a Rajya Sabha MP in April 1994 from Uttar Pradesh and served for two consecutive terms for 12 years till March, 2006.
He served as a Member on the following important Parliamentary Committees:-

He has served as Member of Board of Management of Dr. BR Ambedkar University, Lucknow.
Member of Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata.
Represented India in United Nations (New York) and addressed United Nations General Assembly in October, 2002

Thailand, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Germany, Switzerland, France, United Kingdom and USA on Study Tour as Member of Parliament.
