President Pranab Mukherjee has been discharged from the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi on Friday after he underwent an angioplasty recently.

According to reports, the doctors have installed a coronary stent in President Mukherjee's artery to remove a blockage. He was taken to the hospital after he complained of some problems.

Coronary angioplasty is a procedure used to open blocked or narrowed coronary (heart) arteries. The procedure improves blood flow to the heart muscle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called on President Mukherjee at the hospital on Tuesday to enquire about his health. Several other leaders, including West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, had also visited him in hospital.
