President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday praised the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital here for its initiative to educate the public about the need to control and prevent hypertension.

He said that World Hypertension Day provides an opportunity to convey to the people the means for the prevention of hypertension and its treatment.

The RML hospital is celebrating World Hypertension Day on the theme 'Know Your Blood Pressure' on May 17.

"The World Hypertension Day is an important opportunity to communicate to the public information on prevention of hypertension and its treatment. Proper education and awareness is the key to tackling this disease. I am sure that this initiative of PGIMER, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital will be useful in educating the public about the need to control and prevent this disease," President Mukherjee said in his message. "Good health, as an attribute of human well-being, and precedes every other possession of mankind. Many years ago, Lord Buddha observed 'To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear'. A healthy population is a true reflection of a country's progress," he added.
