Pranab Mukherjee accepts resignation of Minister of State of commerce ministry, Daggubati Purandeswari

President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the resignation of Dr. D Purandeswari, Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, from the council of ministers.

The president, on the advice of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, accepted Purandeswari's resignation from the council of ministers, with immediate effect, a Rashtrapati Bhavan press communique said.

Purandeshwari had opted out of the Congress following her protest against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Purandeswari is the daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder NT Rama Rao.
