There are more questions than answers a day after Union Minister of State General (Dr.) VK Singh's (Retired) wife Bharti filed a First Information Report (FIR) against property dealer Pradeep Chauhan for blackmailing her. According to the FIR, Pradeep Chauhan allegedly threatened to release doctored audio and video files to damage VK Singh's reputation unless he was paid Rs. 2 crore. The contents of the video are unclear as yet.

On Thursday, the case got murkier. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh said that Chauhan met him on Sunday and claimed that he had evidence that VK Singh, Bharti Singh and another minister, who he did not name, were plotting to kill two other union ministers. "Chauhan told me that he had the relevant evidence on his phone and laptop. He also told me that the information he possessed would shock the central government to its core," the AAP leader said.

However, Singh said that the video Chauhan showed him did not have anything substantial to back his claims. He added that after showing the video, Chauhan also asked for an AAP ticket for the upcoming state elections in Punjab as quid pro quo for handing him the 'purpoted' evidence. "Giving Chauhan a ticket is out of question since those are reserved for AAP volunteers in Punjab. Besides, he (Chauhan) has worked for VK Singh during the Lok Sabha elections," the AAP leader added.
During the day, fresh developments cropped up with rumours of a compromise making the rounds. Highly placed sources said that Bharti Singh and Chauhan struck a deal to withdraw the FIR against the latter. Sources added that this deal may have been brokered by VK Singh's nephew who is the common link between Singh, his wife and Chauhan.
Vishwajeet Singh, Bharti's lawyer, categorically denied these rumours. "Any information claiming that we have withdrawn the complaint or that we have reached a compromise are false," said Singh.

The Delhi Police have remained tight-lipped regarding the investigation up till now.

Sources also claimed that the police interrogated Chauhan for three consecutive days. Despite dna's repeated calls and text messages, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi),Jatin Narwal remained unavailable for comment.
