Presidency University Vice Chancellor Anuradha Lohia's health deteriorated on Saturday after being gheraod for over 20 hours. Despite the worsening health, she made it to the University's convocation venue.

A doctor reached her office around 2 pm and carried out a thorough examination. "She is suffering from acute anxiety and should be hospitalised immediately," said the doctor.

Lohia was escorted by teachers and had to face widespread protest. Agitating students lay on the windscreen of her vehicle and tried to stop it from moving. However, teachers ensured that the Vice Chancellor reach the venue safe. Relentless protests continue outside the convocation venue over the demand of Lohia's resignation.

Students of Presidency University gheraoed their Vice Chancellor, Anuradha Lohia, on Friday, demanding her immediate resignation after several students were allegedly manhandled on campus by the police during Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's visit. The Vice Chancellor was gheraoed by the students from 5.30 pm on Friday, forcing her to spend the night in office.

"I have got emails from many students who are expressing their solidarity. They are supporting us. The ones who are protesting are a very small group but very loud," Lohia told PTI earlier in the day.

When asked whether the administration is negotiating with the agitators, she said, "I have been talking to them but they just do not want to listen. They don't want any dialogue. All they want is my resignation."
