Political deadlock in J&K likely to end before Delhi assembly polls

PDP has finally reached a settlement with the ruling party at the centre, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and earlier reports of a tiff between the two parties regarding the Chief Minister's seat have also been laid to rest.

Jammu & Kashmir finally seems to be moving towards getting a proper government nearly after more than a month the fractured mandate in the recently held assembly polls. The People's Democratic Party (PDP), has finally reached a settlement with the ruling party at the centre, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and earlier reports of a tiff between the two parties regarding the Chief Minister's seat have also been laid to rest.

None of the political party could get a majority in the J&K assembly election held in December 2014, which ultimately let to the current Governor's rule in the state with no consensus emerging out between the parties. The assembly election results were out on December 23, in which PDP emerged as the largest party gaining 28 seats, followed by the BJP with 25 seats. Former ruling party, National Conference (NC) bagged 15 seats while the Congress managed 12 seats.

PDP MLA from Rajpora Constituency, Haseeb Drabu also met Governor Vohra on Wednesday to discuss the PDP-BJP parleys on government formation and the broad consensus of the matters being finalized in the coming days, the spokesperson at Raj Bhawan disclosed. Some BJP leaders also met the Governor on Wednesday to discuss about the government formation.

Sources also revealed that the government formation will take place in the coming days just before the Delhi polls to 'send a victorious message' to the electorate in the capital city in order to boost their morale.
