Police seizes money stolen from house of Lalu Prasad's brother-in-law

A sum of Rs 39 lakh and other valuables stolen from former RJD MP Sadhu Yadav's house last month have been recovered and three persons arrested in this connection, police said on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off about suspicious movement of one Kundan Kumar Sah near Yadav's residence in Saket Bihar Mitramandal Colony here, police arrested him from Ramjichak locality in the state capital a couple of days ago, Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj told reporters in Patna.

During interrogation, Sah had confessed about his role in the burglary at the residence of brother-in-law of the RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on June 12, he said. On Sah's disclosures, police had recovered a huge quantity of cash and jewellery, besides other valuables from his house.

Sah's two accomplices -- Santosh Kumar and Vikash Kumar -- were also arrested from various parts of the state capital and parts of booty recovered from their places too. In all, Rs 39,14,700 in Indian currency and Rs 1,400 of Nepalese currency, besides a haul of jewellery, one laptop, projector, a motorcycle bought with the stolen money and documents of land worth Rs 18 lakh purchased with the stolen money and three mobile phones were seized from the accused persons, the SSP said.

Sadhu Yadav, who currently does not belong to any political party, has lodged a complaint about burglary in his house and loot of Rs 50 lakh and jewellery on June 12.
