Police seizes fake notes of face value of Rs 21,000

Police today seized fake Indian currency notes from the possession of a surrendered insurgent at 'DM Colony', a rehabilitation colony of the tribals in Unakoti district.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of one Mashuram Reang, a surrendered insurgent of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) at 'DM Colony' and seized fake notes of the face value of Rs 21,000 of five hundred denomination, Additional Superintendent of Police Nabadwip Jamatiya said.

Jamatiya said a racket is active in the area which collects counterfeit notes from neighbouring Bangladesh.

Police is investigating the case, he added.
