Police review safety measures in ATMs

Against the backdrop of a brutal attack of a woman bank employee inside an ATM in Bangalore recently, top police officials, senior executives from public and private sector banks on Tuesday reviewed at a meeting the safety measures to be adopted in Tamil Nadu.

At the meeting, the police advised the banks to install an additional surveillance camera outside ATMs along with the existing camera installed inside the outlet, a police release said here.

The banks were also asked to remove dark films or sun control films if there are any on the doors of ATM.

Only one person will be allowed to enter ATM and for gaining access, the person has to use the ATM card for opening the door, it said.

The banks have been directed to enhance the features in ATM by end of this month, the release added.
