The Hyderabad Police on Wednesday registered a complaint of a woman who was divorced through a newspaper advertisement.

However, the police said that they would proceed further in the matter after verifying the facts and taking legal opinion.

?Yesterday evening we received a written complaint from Nazmin. She has complained that her husband Mustaquddin, who married her in January 2015 took her to Saudi Arabia. She gave birth to a child. They came to India in January 2017 along with their child. He left her in India and went back to Saudi Arabia. He then called her and told her that he would send her some papers through his advocate. She came to the police station and met the DCP also. We registered her complaint under,? M. Srinivas Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mirchowk told ANI.

The ACP further said that the complainant also alleged that her husband?s brother also molested her in Saudi Arabia.

The police later also came to know that some advertisement was given in Urdu daily 'Siyasat' newspaper on March 4 where Mustaquddin had given divorce to his wife.

?In her complaint, she didn?t tell that she had been divorced. We came to know this later. We need to see if that news is genuine or not,? the ACP further said.

After a series of instances of talaq via WhatsApp, e-mail, this came as another shocker where a man divorced his wife through an advertisement published in a newspaper.

Mustaquddin, who works in Saudi Arabi earlier on March 4 divorced his wife by an advertisement in Urdu daily ?Siyasat?.

In another such incident, which came to light today itself, a Muslim woman in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur city has received talaq through speed post within three months of her marriage, thereby yet again raising controversy over the triple talaq practice.

Nasir Khan, who married Aliya Siddiqui in November 2016, sent her three divorce papers in January 2017 through speed post.

The Allahabad High Court had in December 2016 held that the practice of triple talaq is 'cruel' and raised an issue that whether the Muslim Personal Law could be amended to provide relief to the Muslim women.

The High Court also stated that the form of 'instant divorce' is 'most demeaning'.

The Supreme Court is to hear multiple pleas challenging the validity of triple talaq, 'nikah halala' and polygamy practices among Muslims community on May 11 by a Constitution bench during the summer vacation.

Earlier on March 27, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) told the apex court that the pleas challenging such practices among Muslims were not maintainable as the issues fell outside the realm of judiciary.
