Police nab 5 assailants within 24 hrs of crime

Miscreants had opened fire on a property dealer and looted Rs3.85 lakh from him on Monday

The Jawahar Circle police on Tuesday morning nabbed five miscreants who had opened fire on a property dealer in Bassi on Monday evening and allegedly looted Rs3,85,000 from him.

Those arrested have been identified as Abhishek Sethi (27), a resident of Mehndipur Balaji; Varun Vyas (30), a resident of Chittorgarh; Vinayak Sharma (23); Subhash Naagar (21) and Sachin (21) of Jaipur.

Vikas Kumar, deputy commissioner of police, Jaipur east, said that the miscreants were caught with a loaded country-made pistol.

They were nabbed from Bhuteshwar area on Jaipur-Delhi Highway after the police tracked the location of their cell-phones.

According to reports, one Hargyan Meena and his friend Rahul were on their way home in their MUV. They were stopped by the five miscreants travelling in a car (RJ 29 CA 3233).

The miscreants beat up the duo badly.

When the duo tried to flee, one of the miscreants Abhishek Sethi fired thrice while chasing them but the duo allegedly jumped into a nullah and saved their lives.

Interestingly, ‘Rajasthan Sachivalaya’ (Rajasthan Secretariat) was written on the number plate of the car in which the miscreants had come.

The police are probing if the vehicle belonged to or was associated with any government official or bureaucrat.

The police also recovered a 7.54-bore country-made pistol from the miscreants. Baseball bats and hockey sticks have also been recovered from their car.

“We have arrested five men on charges of attempt to murder and loot. They have been booked under sections 143, 307, 427, 323 and 379 of the Indian Penal Code,” said Vikas Kumar.
