A team from the North Port Police Station, along with the disaster management team of the Kolkata Police, and two fire-tenders were rushed to the place after pedestrians and policemen spotted the youth climbing up the bridge at around 10 am, senior officer of Kolkata Police said.
"Our officers had a tough time convincing him and bringing him down. The identity of the youth is yet not known.
He seems to be a vagabond roaming around the streets," he said.
Onlookers gathered underneath to witness the whole process and that led to a traffic snarl which was finally cleared after the youth was brought down from there, he added.
