Police books 2 Pune doctors for molesting woman colleague at COVID-19 facility

A Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) official said the two accused doctors were hired by an agency that is managing the said facility.

Police officials said on Sunday that they have booked two doctors for allegedly molesting their woman colleague working in a COVID- 19 facility in Maharashtra's Pune. 

In her complaint, the doctor said she was touched inappropriately on several occasions by the two doctors in the last few days, a Shivajinagar police station officer said.

He said, "A woman doctor approached us with a complaint that she was molested by two doctors on multiple occasions in the last few days. We have registered a case and our investigation is on." 

A Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) official said the two accused doctors were hired by an agency that is managing the said facility.

For the uninformed, in the recent past, other such incidents of assault in COVID-19 hospitals and quarantine centres have also surfaced. 

In Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, a 30-year-old doctor was held for allegedly molesting and attempting to rape a 25-year-old woman who was a COVID-19 patient. The woman registered a complaint to the Police against him in which she mentioned that the accused came to her room late at night and touched her private parts. The doctor was reportedly arrested after the complaint, SheThePeople reported. 

In another incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by another COVID-19 patient in a washroom of an isolation ward of Sardar Patel COVID-19 Care Centre in South Delhi’s Chhatarpur. The girl also accused another man of filming the assault on his mobile phone. Both the accused have been reportedly arrested.
