In a shocking case of human sacrifice, two brothers in connivance with some lady mantriks, killed their mother and another old lady on advice of a lady mantriks in a village near Ghoti. The Nashik gramin police taking suo moto action on information of a social worker have arrested 10 persons under the anti-superstition and black magic law - 2013.

On December 30,2014, Ghoti police arrested 10 persons, including two brothers and six women  for allegedly killing two old women as human sacrifice.

According to a case filed by Rahibai Pingle, a resident of Take – Harsh, a hamlet Trimbakeshwar tehsil, her brothers had killed their mother and had plans of killing her on suggestion of a lady mantrik – a so called foreseer who resorts to evil practices as solutions.

The incident came to light after a tribal social worker Bhagwan Madhe working with an NGO Shramjivi Sanghatana,  informed the police that he suspected some evil practices in the village, informed assistant police inspector, Suresh Manore,  Ghoti.

Madhe had also spoken to Superintendent of Police  Sanjay Mohite and had voiced his suspicion, though he too was not aware of the depth of the situation. Ghoti police took suo moto action and what came to fore was a shocking incident.

According to police, “The two brothers Kashinath Dore and Govind Dore, both residents of Mokhada village, Thane district told their sister Rahibai Pingle, who resides in Take-Harsh that they were unhappy with their present lives. On the sister suggested them to meet a lady mantrik in her village.

The two lady mantriks, who are also distantly related to them told the brothers that their (Dore’s) mother, their sister and Rahibai Pingle and one of the lady’s grand mother in law are the reason for their unhappiness as they are possessed by unholy spirits.

As a solution the brothers tortured their mother Budhabai for days together. They beat her up, kept her hungry, when she fainted threw her out of the house, then dragged her again and tortured her further to the point of hurting her eyes. They made her confess that she was possessed by unholy spirit. Finally they killed her. They were similarly troubling their sister Rahibai who managed to flee from their custody but fearing her death kept quite.  She finally spoke when the police intervened.

After the police investigation, the two Dore brothers were arrested late on December 29, 2014. Next day on December 30, 2014, they confessed to have killed their mother and also another old lady. They with the help of the lady mantriks had buried the bodies barely 50 feet from their home.

District superintendent of police (rural) Sanjay Mohite who visited Ghoti and the site of crime told dna, “Police took a suo moto action on information and investigated the matter. Prima facie, the case appears to be complicated with two lady mantriks involved. Those who were killed were in relation to them as well as the two brothers who committed the crime.  The sister who escaped was also being threatened if she spoke to anyone. We have recovered the two dead bodies, one of a 65 year old Budabai Dore and another of a 80 year old woman identified as Bugibai Veer, who were killed for allegedly being possessed by evil spirits. 10 persons have been arrested under the sections of the anti superstition and black magic law - 2013 and sections of the IPC”.

Police recovered two dead bodies from the out skirts Take Harsh village, where the brothers were staying. From the information gathered it appears that the two lady mantriks had plans of killing 7 women in human sacrifice to build a ‘muth’.
“As the incident has been investigated, superstition and black magic practice uncovered and arrests have been made any further such loss of life has been averted. We are investigating further”, Sanjay Mohite said.
