A day after seizing several high-end luxury cars from in raids at Housing Development Infrastructure Limited (HDIL) promoters Sarang Wadhawan and Rakesh Wadhawan, the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday attached more properties in Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank case.

The ED has attached private jet and jewellery worth Rs 60 crore belonging to Wadhawans on Saturday. Bombardier jet, parked at Mumbai Airport, was seized by the agency on Saturday.

Six cars have also been attached by the ED in the case.

Earlier on Friday, ED had raided six locations in Mumbai after registering an Enforcement Case Investigation Report (ECIR) to probe charges of money laundering in connection with the case.

Most of these locations were linked to HDIL Directors Sarang Wadhawan and Rakesh Wadhawan. The agency seized several high-end luxury cars in raids at Wadhawans. Bentley, Roll Royce, Range Rover and Mercedes were some of the cars that were seized in the raids by the agency.

The case was registered on the basis of an FIR filed by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police, the ED officials said on Friday.

Wadhawans were arrested on Thursday and have been sent to police custody till October 9.

A total of 10 out of 44 accounts that led to the bank falling in debt were linked to HDIL. Personal accounts of the accused were among those 10 accounts.

According to the police, PMC bank officials gave loans to HDIL between 2008 and 2019 despite no repayment of the previous loans. The FIR was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including criminal breach of trust, cheating, and forgery.

The EOW has also frozen bank accounts of former MD of PMC Bank, Joy Thomas, who was arrested on Friday and has been sent to police custody till October 17. There are savings and fixed deposits of around Rs 10 crore in bank accounts of former Thomas.

Thomas was arrested after the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police registered a case against senior officials of HDIL and PMC bank in connection with a fraud of over Rs 4,355 crores. He was on the run after the case was registered.

Thomas had on September 28 admitted that the bank did not report the financial exposure to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for over six years.
