Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that he had a wonderful interaction with the Chinese media and discussed several issues of the social media platform Weibo. "I had a wonderful interaction with the Chinese media. Several issues were discussed during the interaction. I highlighted the immense scope for further growth in India-China ties. We should pool our strengths to help the developing nations to move ahead, and eradicate poverty," said Prime Minister Modi.

"It is acknowledged that the 21st century will be Asia's century. Asia is the land of Buddha. It is, therefore, Asia's responsibility to ensure that this century is the one which delivers freedom from war. I was delighted to receive President Xi Jinping in Ahmedabad last year, and am honoured that he is coming to Xi'an to receive me personally," he added.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister launched his Weibo account earlier in the day with users across India and China appreciating the move. This is the first such attempt by an Indian leader on Weibo.

The Prime Minister's popularity can also be measured by the fact that by evening, his account had crossed the 25,000 mark.

Many users were happy with the Prime Minister's account, with some commenting that while the Indian Prime Minister has opened a Weibo account, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and President Xi Jinping have yet to take that step.
