Set aside differences to focus on investment, growth, jobs: PM Narendra Modi to states at NITI Aayog meeting

Prime Minister has asked all the chief ministers to focus on factors delaying projects and has suggested entrusting an officer to monitor and resolve pending issues

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will addressed the first meeting of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog on Sunday.

The meet provided suggestions on setting efficient processes and mechanism of interactions between Centre and states and also between NITI Aayog.

At the meeting, Finance Minister announced that growth, investment and efficiency are among priority areas of government. He added that PM Narendra Modi has asked each state to set up two task forces– one on poverty alleviation and another on agriculture sector. 

Jaitley added that PM Modi asked state governments to set aside differences in order focus on investment, growth, jobs and prosperity. 

He also added that the Prime Minister has asked all the chief ministers to focus on factors delaying projects and has suggested entrusting an officer to monitor and resolve pending issues

PM Modi announced that three sub-groups of chief ministers will be set up on the rationalisation of central schemes, skill development and clean India

The states were asked to extend their suggestions to make new initiatives of the Centre, including 'Swachh Bharat Mission', 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', 'Smart Cities' and 'Make in India', put the economy on high growth trajectory.

The formation of the NITI Aayog was announced on August 15 last year by the Prime Minister during his maiden Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
