"Over the last five years, I have come very close to jailing Congress leaders. In the next five years, they will be in," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday while addressing an election rally at Junagadh in Gujarat.

PM Modi whipped out three cards — Sardar Patel, security and sons of soil — to woo voters and urged them to again make BJP victorious in all 26 seats in Gujarat this Lok Sabha election.

He slammed the Congress manifesto before the crowd for proposing amendments to the Armed Forces Special Provisions Act and the Sedition Act, asking whose interests was it protecting. "It seems they have realised jail is their future abode. Between 2014 and 2019, I have brought them close to the bars, in the next five years, they will be in."

PM Modi urged recollection that it was because of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that Junagadh and Hyderabad are part of India, whereas the Kashmir issue, handled by first prime minister Nehru, remains unsolved.

He said Congress, a family party, had always been unjust to Gujaratis. "Congress did injustice to Sardar Patel [by denying him PM post]. Then it could not digest that Morarji Desai, a Gujarati, became Prime Minister, and conspired to dethrone him in two years. Now they cannot tolerate a chaiwala (from Gujarat) is PM."

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said, 'Modi Hatao' is their singular motive, while I am trying to erase corruption and make the country stronger."

Publicising his government's performance record, he claimed that under his rule, the poor have got 1.5 crore homes compared to 25 lakh during Congress rule, families that did not have toilets have now got one, and homes have been electrified.

He claimed his flagship Aayushman Bharat Scheme has enabled the poor and the middle classes to get free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.

He urged first-time voters to bring return the party which is committed to the country's security to power.
