Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh on Tuesday said all eight leaders of SAARC have given an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit their countries, and added that Prime Minister Modi had substantive meetings with all of his counterparts.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi today had good and substantive meetings with all eight leaders who are visiting India. He thanked each of them for their graciousness in accepting his invitation to attend the ceremony of oath taking and noted that this was a celebration of democracy in the region enriched by their presence," said Singh.

"All the SAARC leaders invited the Prime Minister to visit. He accepted. The dates have to be worked out," she added.

In the morning, Modi met leaders from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Mauritius and Nepal.

Earlier, Modi started his day by assuming charge at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Narendra Modi was administered oath of office and secrecy by President Pranab Mukherjee as India's 15th Prime Minister along with his 44-member Cabinet on Monday evening.
