Taking on both the ruling National Conference and the opposition People's Democratic Party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday appealed to voters of Jammu and Kashmir to end dynastic politics in the state. Modi also promised to bring the film industry back to the Kashmir Valley, which he said would help in solving the problem of unemployment in the state.

"These two families have an understanding. One will rule for five years, then the other comes. There is a five year contract to loot for both. If you don't punish the two families ruling here, they will come back with renewed resurgence," the Prime Minister said at an election rally here.

He added that would like to finish the work that was started in the state by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"People are astonished why Modi likes Jammu and Kashmir so much; I come here because I want to continue what Atal ji started," he added.

Prime Minister Modi also charged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's government of swindling the money that was meant for the relief of the flood victims.

"For the present Government, the flood disaster was an opportunity to loot. There is massive corruption here. We want a government free from corruption. It's time to bring the change, provide young generation a secure future," he added.

Promising to bring film industry back to Kashmir Valley, Modi said, "The film industry was crazy about Kashmir. So many films were shot here, but they went away. I want to bring them back and give employment to youths here."

He also stated that if Gujarat's Kutch region could develop, then the same was possible here. The Prime Minister asserted that Kutch was now the fastest growing district in Gujarat.

"I visited Kutch as the Gujarat Chief Minister. Kutch has significant population of Muslims. Earlier if someone was posted to Kutch it was seen as a punishment posting, but now I can say this that Kutch is the fastest growing district. If development can be brought in Kutch, then the same applies for Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

Prime Minister Modi further emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir had potential to generate enough electricity that can serve the needs of the entire nation.

"Jammu and Kashmir alone has the strength to supply electricity to the entire country," he said.

Taking a jibe at Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Prime Minister Modi said, "Gujarat has less rainfall and scarcity of drinking water. We built a pipeline and Narmada's water is now supplied to 9,000 houses."

"Jammu and Kashmir has Chenab next to it. Can't they supply water here?" he asked.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls will be held in five-phases beginning on November 25. The counting of votes will take place on December 23.

The BJP is seeking to attain a majority in the state this time, bolstered by its stunning performance in the Lok Sabha elections and later in the assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra respectively.

The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to be held in five phases from November 25 to December 20. The counting of votes will be held on December 23.
