Modi tweeted a poem written by Vajpayee in 1946 which was published in a daily owned by Madan Mohan Malviya.

PM Narendra Modi, who is currently on a visit to Afghanistan, wished former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birthday and said he would visit the ailing Vajpayee in the evening after returning from Kabul.

"Be it as a party leader, Parliamentarian, Minister, Prime Minister, Atal ji distinguished himself in every role. This is his speciality," Modi said on Twitter.
After landing in Delhi this evening, will head straight to Atal ji's residence and wish him personally.

Modi also wished Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif on his birthday.
