Keen to empower the country's youth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will review the skill development initiatives of the government at a high-level meeting at his residence on Thursday.

The Prime Minister wants to see that the youth benefits at the grassroot-level from the skill development programmes of the government. According to official sources, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and at least eight government secretaries will attend the meeting.

The sources said the subject of skill development is a pet issue of the Prime Minister who is keen to take it forward as part of his vision of creating "Skill India".

Besides Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth and Niti Ayog CEO Sindhushree Khullar, Secretaries of Labour, Expenditure, Higher Education, School Education, Industrial Policy and Promotion and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises will also be there at the meeting to help create synergies in various government departments to take forward the mission of skill development, they said.
