Celebrating the Quit India movement's 73rd anniversary on Sunday, PM Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee hosted the country's freedom fighters from across the country at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The freedom fighters were felicitated by PM Modi and President Mukherjee. The event was attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Kiren Rijiju, Vice-President Hamid Ansari and other dignitaries.

President Mukherjee too tweeted about the hosting the freedom fighters. He greeted freedom fighter Vasantha VG Bondre who was celebrating his 100th birthday today.

Pension of freedom fighters too was increased by the government after introducing a hike of 218% in DA in 2014-15, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday. In a message on the occasion of 73rd anniversary of Quit India movement, Singh said he bows to freedom fighters who worked tirelessly to make India independent in 1947.
