A single platform for accessing around 200 govt services

People will soon be able to access government services — such as applying for new PAN card, access EPFO services, book gas cylinders among others — through their mobile phones via UMANG (unified mobile application for new-age governance).
Prime Minister launched the UMANG app on Thursday at the Global Conference for Cyber Space (GCCS) 2017.
The app will provide a single platform for accessing around 200 services including several government services. Apart from accessing Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) services like checking the balance, downloading EPF Passbook, or apply for new Permanent Account Number (PAN), pensioners can also generate their digital life certificate or 'jeevan praman' using this app. One can even book gas cylinders through this application.
"We launched the UMANG Mobile App which will provide over a hundred citizen-centric services. At the back-end, these services will be catered for by many different departments of the Union and state governments. This integrated approach will add an automatic layer of 'peer performance pressure' in the working of these departments," PM Modi said during inaugural session of GCCS.
People who are looking for job can also register themselves under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana using this app. Some of the states such as Gujarat has integrated the Online Job Application System (OJAS) with UMANG to let people know about job openings under the state government. It can also be used to locate CBSE schools, view Class 10 and 12 results online as well as finding examination centres. Besides, services related to national scholarships, women's safety, healthcare applications, e-District, and Passport Seva Kendras can be accessed.
UMANG has been developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and National e-Governance Division.
The app offers multilingual support. It is available in 13 languages — English, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, and Tamil among others. It will also provide seamless integration with services such as Aadhaar and Digilocker besides providing integration with various other services such as PayGov.
Services can be accessed through application, web, SMS and IVR channels.
