PM Modi greets 'inspirational' LK Advani on his birthday

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended birthday greetings to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart LK Advani who turned 89 on Tuesday and said that the veteran was an inspirational figure who has served India tirelessly.

"Wishing our inspiration, one of India's tallest leaders who has served India tirelessly and diligently, Shri LK Advaniji on his birthday. I pray to God that Advaniji is blessed with a long and healthy life," the Prime Minister said in a series of tweets.

Prime Minister Modi also visited Advani at his residence to personally wish him.

Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Ravi Shankar Prasad also wished Advani besides party president Amit Shah.

The senior leader is part of the Marg Darshak Mandal and also serves as a mentor to the BJP.

However, last year, the veteran leader had lashed out against the party and Prime Minister Modi after the thumping loss in the Bihar loss, saying that he was being treated like a persona non-grata by the party leadership.
