Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended his greetings on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Prime Minister Modi took to his Twitter handle to wish the nation. "Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima," he tweeted.

Guru Purnima is a festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. The day of full moon, Purnima, in the month of Ashadh of the Hindu calendar is traditionally celebrated as Guru Purnima. The celebration is marked by ritualistic respect to the guru, Guru Puja.  

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar will felicitate the parliamentarians who have been professors. As the monsoon session is currently going on, the event will be held at a room in Parliament House today afternoon.

In a tweet, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy said, "Tomorrow the HRD Minister is inviting all MPs who have been Professors to a Guru Purnima Pooja. I will be there. What a Nice idea!" Guru Purnima is a festival dedicated to teachers wherein they are paid respects and expressed gratitude for their noble service.
