Pistol Pandey, Mr Pink Pants, Revolver Pandey, Bullet Pandey – these are some of the names that have been given to Ashish Pandey, who was at the centre of the brawl outside a 5-star hotel in Delhi. The viral clip showed the BSP leader’s son brandishing his gun and threatening a couple.

On Friday, Pandey’s bail plea was rejected and Patiala House Court sent him to judicial custody till Monday. However, his friends have been trying to counter the ‘unjust Twitter trial’ and say that the way Ashish Pandey is being portrayed in media is far from reality.

According to a report published on the news site ‘The Print’, Pandey’s friends say that he is a law abiding citizen, who never raised voice or rebuked anyone. One of the friends says that Pandey paid Rs 1.5 crore tax, which shows he has nothing to hide.

The friends say that are hurt by tags such as ‘Pistol Pandey’ and ‘Pistol Pandey gang.’ Though, they admit that Ashish Pandey has ‘certain lifestyle’, but add that there’s nothing wrong with it.

Amid chaos on Thursday, Ashish Pandey had surrendered before Delhi's Patiala House court.

During the hearing, the counsel appearing for the Delhi police stated the weapon needs to be recovered to verify the licence and the custody of Ashish is required to ascertain the whereabouts of other people seen in the video along with him.

The court allowed the Delhi police to question him in custody for a day. The police have seized his BMW car in which he was seated when the incident took place.

Earlier, in a video message, Ashish Pandey stated he was being made a victim of media trial. "I'm being portrayed as if I am a terrorist and the country's police are looking for me. A lookout circular was also issued. I am not denying the incident which occurred that night. I got to know about it after the video went viral. But the incident is being shown from one perspective only in favour of the other person," he said.

Ashish further said that if the CCTV footages are scanned it will show who fought with whom and who entered the ladies' toilet. "Yes I did go to my car and carried my licenced weapon but neither did I threaten to kill anyone nor did I point the gun at anyone. The gun was in my hand and on the side near my leg," he said.
