Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sachin Pilot on Friday expressed deep concern over increasing atrocities against women and minor girls. The leader, in a rebuke of the government, has demanded the government ensure effective policing across the state so that the women in the state are assured security.
“When the entire state is celebrating Navratra, the government machinery has failed to check atrocities against women and children. Recently, a minor child was murdered after being raped in Kota,” said Pilot.
The young leader went on to accuse the government of being an architect of slogans about safety, but proving to be completely inadequate when taking action. “Bhonpa (traditional witch doctors) are still a terrifying phenomenon in districts like Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Banswara and Pratapgarh. Women there are being tortured to grab their property and socially exclude them.”
